Let’s face it: the world of economics is…complicated. Whether you’re 18 or 80, without a basic understanding of how money works, challenges abound. Kansas City’s School of Economics (SOE) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide high quality, reality-based educational experiences that prepare young people to understand and apply basic marketplace concepts and skills. We love what they do (and probably would have benefited from it as kids), so we were excited when they approached us to design their new website.

What We Did

Since children and their parents are the primary audience, we wanted to keep things bright and whimsical while highlighting their team’s incredible work and successes. (Almost 12,000 students served between 2019 and 2020? Killing it!) We used bright colors to attract readers to learn more about the School of Economics, and we took care to provide an easy way for parents and other interested parties to identify relevant programs for their students and a simple pipeline to sign up for services. By adding sign up forms, an expanded sitemap, and even an integrated calendar for schools to select their field trip dates, we built a site that was functional, simple, and pleasing for all users.
