How well do you know yourself? As implicit and obvious as the answer to this question may seem initially, you may be surprised by how much of a mystery you are to yourself. The individual is the ultimate minority. We are all beautifully unique from each other. Jean Paul Sartres stated, “hell is other people” vertiginous formula when we realize that each one of us is “other people” for those around us. So before trying to walk in someone else’s shoes, the best is to master your own way to walk.

Here at FMK, we believe it’s essential to know who you are so you can relate to other people. Beyond the sociological or philosophical question, knowing yourself better allows you to understand your own reactions or attitudes to certain situations and therefore to give the chance to take educated decisions. Personality Tests



Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is an extremely popular personality test. Developed by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers, MBTI is based upon the conceptual theory proposed by psychologist Carl Jung. Jung’s theories were rooted in four cognitive functions (thinking, feeling, sensation, and intuition). This birthed the four-letter acronyms that many personality tests are based on. Big Five Personality Traits

The Big Five Personality traits are another popular way to measure an individual’s personality make-up. Each of the five traits can be broken down into two additional aspects. The labels are as follows: Openness to Experience (Openness and Intellect), Conscientiousness (Industriousness and Orderliness), Extraversion (Enthusiasm and Assertiveness), Agreeableness (Compassion and Politeness), and Neuroticism (Volatility and Withdrawal). There are many different types of personality tests. Here at FMK, we have used the 16Personalities questionnaire to identify each of our personalities.

The folks over at 16Personalities have developed a free test that you can take to find out who you are and why you do what you do. Their test is based upon the principles of both the Myers-Briggs and Big Five personality indicators.

With over 148 million tests taken, 16Personalities has been able to develop a way for people to get to know themselves in a more in-depth manner. Once you have taken the test, they also offer a myriad of further information and tools for members in The Academy.

    Identifying what you excel at versus what you could improve upon can be extremely helpful. Obviously, not every personality description is going to be 100% accurate. However, knowing what you bring to the table can help you immensely.


  • Team Dynamic
    The best teams aren’t full of the same kinds of people. Different team players should compliment each other well. One members weaknesses should be mitigated by other teammate’s strengths and vice versa.


  • It’s Fun!
    Have fun with this stuff. Taking a personality test can help a team of coworkers bond with one another. Compare results and see if you agree. Point out each others idiosyncrasies and how you may differ within your personality type.
